I Support Jamaica Projects _ Help Street Children

I Support Jamaica Projects

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This project is about working with at-risk youth (ages 10-24) in an effort to improve their life opportunities. Specifically, it provides remedial literacy and numeracy education to street and working children with the aim of reinstating (those of school age) into the formal school system. Those in their late teens are trained in vocational activities such as barbering, cosmetology ,information technology, and videography.  Participants are enrolled in a specially tailored remedial non-formal education programme from Monday-Thursday where they are exposed to an extensive curriculum around reading, writing, and mathematics.  Participants also engage in life skills courses on topics such as career development; conflict resolution; reproductive health; and personal hygiene.

HOW YOUR DONATION WILL HELP

At a cost of US390 per year per child, your donation will go towards placing 10 young people for one year in the programme, and help to increase their chances for a healthy, happy life. If we don't intervene now, these young people will become part of the dark underworld and we would have failed them.
