Herbs for anxiety

Image
Feeling stressed out or suffering from anxiety try an herbal alternative. Instead of drinking  alcohol or losing sleep  try these herbs. St John's Wort a personal favorite of mine apparently this herb has two chemicals specifically counter depression. Hypericin and hyperforin act on chemical messengers in the nervous system that regulate mood. Chamomile also has compounds that bind to the same receptors as Valium. Valerian helps with sleep , I tried this in a pill form when I used to have sleep issues. There are more out there but these are the few I have definitely tried myself.

More praises for Turmeric

Everything that I blog about I use myself.  I always tell people to use the spice Turmeric, I am quite a bully when it comes to this miracle herb.  So for the past three months I have been experimenting on myself. I used to include Turmeric in my stir fry like once  a week but I decided to include it in at least two meals a day.  I can report that headaches which I used to have once a while have ceased, this joint problem I had in shoulder (old gym injury) have also stopped as well other aches and (monthly) pains.  My skin is totally clear as well.  Turmeric has so many benefits so please add it to your diet.  Everyday scientists are finding new benefits of this awesome herb.

Inflammation

When my sister was diagnosed with LUPUS in 2007 I became obsessed with learning all I could about this disease.  When I became her caretaker for three years I witnessed first hand how diet can cause pain and inflammation as well as other foods that can alleviate the pain.  My sister loved junk food before being diagnosed , she was also under much stress whilst she was working towards her PhD in Chemistry.  I realized then the link between stress and food in causing chronic inflammation. In most of  us when we eat food that is not agreeable with us, our bodies, this amazing machine will attack it. But in attacking these foods inflammation kicks in.  Inflammation can show itself in gastric disruptions, skin breakouts, joint pains , allergic responses etc.  These reactions are necessary but what part can we play in minimizing the effects.  I am only going to share some herbs that I have personally seen work to minimize inflammation. Ginger/Turmeric - I will always sing the praises of
